Brace Band Square - Galvanized
DESCRIPTION:
Square Brace bands are a critical part of every permanent chain link fence installation using square fence posts, as they connect the fence mesh bracing structure to the terminal end posts of the fence. The Shape of each brace band is subject to the shape of the post, e.g. a square fence post will receive a square brace band. The size of the bracing band is subject to the size of the outside diameter or dimension of the post, e.g. 1 1/2" square posts require 1 1/2" square brace bands. Each band is designed to work with Carriage Bolt (CB516114) that mounts through each side of the metal band. A tension bar, flat piece of steel, is inserted into the last woven needle of the chain link section and then slid into the opening of the tension band. The tension band is secured around the tension bar and fence with the carriage bolt. Each band is designed with a square shaped bolt hole which allows for the square shape of the carriage bolt head to stay in a fixed position and allow a hex nut to be tightened on the other side. Each band has a galvanized steel core that has been hot-dip galvanized. Why a hot-dip galvanize coating? The added coating provides protection and allows the fitting to withstand the elements of frigid and brutal weather for +25 years.
FAQ:
HOW DO I KNOW WHAT SIZE BRACE BAND I NEED FOR MY FENCE?
The two most common ways to find the size needed is as follows:
-If you are trying to measure the size of a band you already have. Pinch the two ends of the band together and measure the INSIDE of the band.
-If you have the post you are going to mount the band, simply measure the OUTSIDE of the post.
How do I find the brace band on my fence, where does it go?
The tension band will be found at the start and end of each fencing section. They will be holding the tension bar, a flat strip of steel (5/8" or 3/4") that has been slid into the chain-link wire mesh, it runs parallel to the vertical post. Square fence straps like this one are in a shape thatåÊis best described as being in the shape of a letter, "P"
How do I attach the brace band to my chain link fence?
Tension bands can be slid over the top of a post and mounted in place by inserting a carriage bolt and tightening it with a hex nut and ratchet.
How do I attach a brace band to my chain link fence that already has other items mounted to it?
Tension bands can be bent open with a pair of pliers or by hand (depending on the person). Simply open grab each end of the tension band and apply pressure in a pulling motion. Once open, wrap the band around the post at the desired location. Next, squeeze the two ends back together, by hand or with pliers. Insert a carriage bolt and tighten.
What side of the fence do I mount the brace band on?
The long side of the tension band goes on the outside of the chain link fence. The outside is the side for which you want the most security, e.g. carriage bolts will be inserted from the outside, with the bolts being accessible only on the inside of the fence.
